John Sillince
In my paintings I find there are usually one of three things.

1: Movement – by means of parallel forms or outlines flowing out of frame, usually diagonally or horizontally and exceptionally forwards, as with figure falling towards viewer or making a gesture.
2: Conflict – either by violence or incongruous contrast or expressed dislike between figures.
3: Ambiguity – in order to hold viewer’s attention, like a mystery or puzzle, preventing being dismissed as having a clear meaning.
